Important dates for May in the dojo.
———————————

May 21st

Due to a lack of registration we will have to cancel this Saturday’s (May 23rd) tournament. We will have regular classes instead.
The parents that have already paid will be reimbursed.
Tournaments are a way of letting the students test out what they have learned in a safe and competitive environment.

The grading on Saturday May 30 will begin at 10:15 am. Please arrive early to warm up.

Summer is coming and the dojo will be closed from August 9th and reopen August 24th. Sensei will be having a knee replacement on August 11th.
If you plan on taking the summer off as some students do, please let me know.
We will switch to our summer schedule at the end of June. Schedule will be announced when we find out the numbers of students wanting to train through the summer.

April’s Lincoln Shukokai Gasshuku with Shihan Bill was a great success! In addition to some of our students, we had karatekas from Canada (BC), the US (New Jersey and Michigan), The Netherlands, and Germany. Quite an international event!

Sensei Carmen from The Netherlands posted her thoughts on the course here: https://www.ksikarate.nl/ksi-training-met-shihan-bill-in-canada/

After having a week or so to digest our course with Shihan Bressaw, I have thought about everything we were taught and shown. Amazing basic movement, the X, kata and kumite, grappling and throwing techniques. All of this was great. The bonding, kinship, making new friends and renewing old friendships, and like mindedness of everyone that attended was what reached me the most. to be part of something greater than ourselves is a surreal feeling.
Yes we must continue to practice and evolve with Soke Kimura’s technique, that goes without saying.
The feeling of family and knowing there are others who feel the same I personally enjoyed every single “moment” of it.
A big thanks to “the team” Bart and Amanda, Doug and Nicole, Pete and Franca for all that you did to make the weekend run smoothly
Thank you to Shihan Bressaw and all that attended to make it so special.
Thanks
Sensei Steve
